Sam além de viajar no tempo, em cada salto que dá, encarna uma nova pessoa. Enfrenta reflexos no espelho que não são o seu e, para poder seguir em frente para outro tempo, tem sempre de completar uma missão naquele corpo. Ao seu lado há Al, um observador do seu tempo, em forma de holograma, que apenas ele pode ver e ouvir.
